#LakeOFactCheck: According to the Army Corps’ own study with the U.S. Geological Survey and the Department of the Interior, the toxin microsystin is released as freshwater algal blooms are discharged into the salt water of our estuary. In other words, the Army Corps acknowledges that discharges from Lake Okeechobee move the freshwater algal blooms that covered 90% of Lake O last summer into our estuary, which then - as a result of being moved into salt water - release toxins that have tested as high as 50 times too toxic for human contact. Thank you #BrianMast telling it like it is on a non partisan issue. Stop the discharges. Send the water south!
